Someone needs love and you need a THIRD WORLD SYMPHONY

Please hear my heart. I am not blogging to push my agenda or my beliefs but we need to do something different if we are going to make a difference. Today is one of those Blog post.

I have written on Wednesdays for a while about my kids and how much I love them. Well I want to introduce, or remind you about another part of our family. We sponsor a child through Compassion International and her name is Saidy.

(Click on Saidy’s picture to see other kids who need you)

We love her and she loves us. We help provide for her spiritual and physical needs and she supplies us with art and letters that are worth more than gold. She is an amazing nine year old alot like the girl that sleeps here in this house two doors down from me.

Today I want to encourage you to pray about sponsoring a child through one of the many organizations out there. We partnered with Compassion International and have loved our time being in Saidy’s life.

Another sponsor you may have heard of is Shaun Groves. He is an amazing artist, musician, humanitarian and child advocate. You have heard my heart now take a moment and listen to his as he shares his experience meeting the child he sponsors. Then go out and pick up his new album.

You know I am all introducing you to amazing music and this is no exception. And if you want to talk more about sponsoring a child leave a comment below, I would love to talk to you. If you already sponsor a child leave a comment and offer some encouragement to those who are thinking about it.

Who are you going to be?

The BOY
Hey funny little kid. Hey little fella that can light up a room. I look at your smile and I see me. I see how you love on you momma and sister, and makes me want to do better. You have such a great personality, I guess you got it from me.

The BOY
I just sit back and wonder, who are you gonna be? You will always be my boy, my son, the one who carries on my name. But you will also go your own way. You will chose a career, you will maybe pick a spouse, and you will make a new name for yourself. But not matter where you go, no matter what you achieve, you will always be Jeremy’s son.

The BOYSo that leads me to realize, I have got to step it up. I want the fact that you are my son to mean something to you.. I want you to be able to say that with pride one day “I am Jeremy’s son”. I want you to know that I will disappoint you and your sister sometime because well just because, but it is the goal for the rest of my life to live so that you will be proud of who your DAD is.

I love you son,

DAD

Music Monday for my Daughter

You all know I have this girl…..

And while right now she thinks I have hung the moon. But one day we will have our trials and our problems as a dad and a daughter. So really this post is for my Abby of the future. I hope one day when she needs it most that she might come across my blog and read this page and know what am amazing Father we both have.

SO this Music Monday is for her ….

I love you Daughter,

DAD

Thanks to Randy for sharing this with me

It’s about to get GIRLY!!!

In about 8 hours, my daughter and I will embark on our 5th annual Daddy Daughter trip. I won’t bore you with all the details. I will bore you with this one fact… My daughter and I need this. Not just this year but every year. I will send the next 3 days spoiling my daughter rotten and pouring my life into her. I will hold her hand, open doors for her, do what ever she wants us to do. And I will spend time showing her how she is supposed to be treated by guys. I started this because of a simple book, “What a Difference a Daddy makes”, and my relationship with my Abby is in such a good place because of it. I know she is still young and not yet hit THAT age. But I will be her knight in shining armor as long as I can.

Dad’s we cannot lose the battle for our daughters heart!

Creative class

I love to think about ways to boost my creativity. The biggest thing for me is creativity takes work and time. Creatives very seldom just all of a sudden have a great idea. A million other ideas had to die or be changed before the Great idea was born. So maybe you are like me and want to boost your creativity. Here are some ideas courtesy of the amazing worshiper, Tim Hughes:

1) Creativity starts with the Creator
2) To increase creativity you must explore and dig deep
3) Be willing to express your creativity
4) Experiment with your creativity and be willing rock the boat because being creative will stretch you.
5) It is ok to have critics (I needed to really here this)
6) Allow others to hear your ideas and be willing to hear their advice

So there you go. I so want to create more and better as I go through my days. What are some other ideas that help your create? I would love to see your advice.

Are you getting stale??

20110720-120849.jpg

So here I am in the beautiful state of Kansas. It really is beautiful here. I love being able to travel with my worship teams to conferences and this year is no exception. We have 4 of us on this trip and we are being immersed in the worship experience at the National Worship Leader Conference.

We all go through periods of being a little less motivated. We all have times where our worship can feel a bit stale. If you are in need of refreshing these ideas are for you.

– Never get over the wonder of grace.
– Thanksgiving starts the worship process and refreshes.
– Don’t allow the joy of service turn into the drudgery of duty.
– The only real TRUE motivation for ministry is love for Christ
– There is no substitute for a strong personal worship life.
– Be thankful
– Be in the word
– Schedule time to read, rest, think, and unwind.
– Sometimes we have to wait on the Lord (Is. 40), so don’t hurry.
– Spend time with people who know the real you, who will be real with you, who will pour life into you, and who you can pour your life into.

I needed to hear these thoughts today and I want to thank Ps. Buddy Owens for sharing them with the worship conference. So help me add to the list. What do you do to make sure your worship isn’t stale?
